International University Theatre Forum in Vilnius (Lithuania) summons students that are interested in theatre for interactive theatrical performances and aims to bring social and heritage questions to public attention, also giving the possibility to get to know each other, to interact and exchange experience.

Some of the most successful projects were „Vilnius – crossroad of national cultures” (2003),“Open up forgotten spaces” (2005)“Perpetuum Mobile” (2007) and others. Troupes from Spain, Belarus, Finland, Poland, France, Russia, Latvia, Sweden and Italy have been guests in our Forums.

In the 23th International University Theatre Forum (9-14 of May, 2022) several Lithuanian student theatres and guests groups from foreign countries will participate. Claudio Collovà is a rare and precious example of artist and intellectual; a director of large culture and a refined and timeless original poetics. Considered a citizen of the world for his training and for the many collaborations he had over the years with important institutions in several European countries and beyond, he has always maintained his roots in his homeland, Palermo, Sicily. His results are always memorable for brilliance and togetherness. This is also true for his work within juvenile justice institutions. In his most recent work "Little Hamlet" - followed by the European Review Catarsi-Teatri delle Diversità (Urbino University)- Collovà critically re-elaborates Shakespeare's work with a fortunate intuition from the young participants who consider unfair for a father to ask his sons to perpetuate revenge. Vito Minoia, President of the IUTA writes: "It would be necessary to formalize theatre activities for minors subject to measures ordered by the judicial authority".

Alejandro Finzi, our colleague, responsible of European literature studies at the Universidad Nacional de Comahue, passed away Sunday 22 August at the age of 70. We have lost a great world-class playwright. His plays were premiered not only in Argentina, but also in Europe and in various Latin American countries; as well as being translated into English, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, French, Italian.

His participation in the activities of International University Theatre is significant (from Liege in Belgium to San José in Costa Rica, from Urbino in Italy to many other contexts). We join with deep condolences to Laura, his wife, and to all his family.

In the attached pdf file (see below) the memories of Denis Delprat, Lucile Garbagnati, David Aguzzi.

"Thanks Alejandro for the values of the significant artistic work you leave us. The dignity with which you have lived represents a great example of humanity and civilization" (Vito Minoia - IUTA President)
